Basic Information

Discover the exceptional Ma Tou Yan Rougui, a highly esteemed Wuyi Rock tea cultivated in the revered Zhengyan 正岩 terroir. This distinguished variety, named for its captivating cinnamon-like aroma, boasts an intense, sharp, and enduring fragrance that sets it apart. The unique combination of mineral-rich soil and ideal climatic conditions within this pristine, protected environment synergistically enhances the tea's aromatic and flavorful profile, creating a truly remarkable brew.

Ma Tou Yan Rougui (Horse Head Rock Cinnamon 马头岩肉桂) is celebrated for its intricate and robust flavor, dominated by a prominent cinnamon note that distinctly reflects the terroir of the Ma Tou Yan region. Its rarity, coupled with the meticulous craftsmanship involved in its production, positions it as one of the most coveted and valuable teas among Wuyi rock oolongs. Each sip unveils a complex tapestry of flavors, including hints of dried fruits, a creamy texture, subtle spiciness, earthy woodiness, and a touch of savory caramel, all harmoniously balanced for a sophisticated and delightful tea experience.

The exceptional quality of Ma Tou Yan Rougui is intrinsically linked to the untouched environment and rich biodiversity of the Ma Tou Yan region. This pristine setting contributes to the tea's unique character, making it a prized and highly sought-after oolong tea for discerning enthusiasts who appreciate the artistry and terroir expressed in every exquisite infusion.

Rougui tea has many other nicknames according to the area where the tea trees are grown. For instance, “Rou” in Chinese Pinyin means “meat”, and this nickname was given after the meat of animals.“Ma Tou” stands for “the head of a horse”; The word “yan” means “rock”, referring to the unique characteristics of Wuyi oolong tea. Therefore, Ma Tou Yan Rougui means “Horse meat tea”. This Rougui tea is celebrated for its spicy and robust fragrance, a natural characteristic rather than the result of additives. This distinctive aroma comes from both the tea variety and its traditional processing methods.
