Basic Information

This Raw (Sheng) Liu Bao Tea crafted from carefully selected original species (原种) tea buds harvested in 2020 from the core Liu Bao production villages of Tangping (塘平) and Shouxi (首溪), this first-grade Liu Bao Tea embodies the depth of tradition and terroir. Using time-honored processing methods, the leaves are tightly curled with a lustrous dark-brown hue, a testament to meticulous craftsmanship and authentic aging techniques.

Upon brewing, the tea yields a clear, orange-red liquor with a smooth, mellow body and a gentle sweetness that lingers on the palate. A subtle floral aroma—developed through beneficial microbial fermentation—rises from the cup, accompanied by a faint yet distinctive bamboo basket fragrance that adds a layer of rustic elegance to the experience.

As the session progresses, the tea reveals a refined complexity. By the fifth infusion, the unique varietal character of original species Liu Bao becomes increasingly pronounced, offering a lasting and pleasant aftertaste. With its balance of smooth texture, depth of flavor, and traditional character, this Liu Bao is a rewarding choice for seasoned tea drinkers and collectors alike.

Steeping Guidelines

Easy Mug Brew

Use a tea-to-water ratio of 1:100. Put the leaves directly into a mug, add boiling water, and steep for 5 to 7 minutes. When about one-third of the tea remains, refill with boiling water to continue brewing.

Traditional Gongfu Style

Pre-warm the gaiwan or Yixing teapot. Use a tea-to-water ratio of 1:30. Brew with water at 100°C (212°F). For the first two infusions, steep for about 10 seconds each. Gradually increase the steeping time with each additional infusion. Pour the tea liquor completely out after each brew.

Thermal Steeping

Use a tea-to-water ratio of 1:200. Pour boiling water into a ceramic-lined insulated flask or teapot. Close the lid and let it steep for 1 to 2 hours before drinking. When about one-third of the tea remains, refill with boiling water to continue brewing and enjoying.
