Chu Jian | Liu Bao Tea Sample Set
First Stage – Start with These:
2019 “Jin Hua 金花 (Golden Flower)” Liu Bao: Notes of sweet fungi and creamy milk. Smooth on the palate with a mellow, sweet flavor.
2018 “Hua Fei Hua 花非花”: Surprising and delightful, with coconut and milk aromas, and a soft, sweet glutinous texture in the tea liquor.
2015 “Hei Mo Li 黑茉莉 (Black Jasmine)”: Gentle jasmine fragrance layered with the sweetness of brown sugar water.
Second Stage – A Deeper Exploration:
2012 “Fang Hua 芳华”: Red bean aroma dominates; its taste is so close to red bean soup that it’s a great starting point for aged Liu Bao tea.
2018 “Chun Shu 醇熟”: Alongside the characteristic fungal note, this tea has mysteriously developed a hint of aged aroma. Rich and full-bodied.
2023 “Xia Zi 霞紫”: Floral and honey notes, rich in anthocyanins. Slight astringency at first sip, but quickly turns into a full, sweet aftertaste.
Third Stage – Deeper and Wilder:
2017 “Mu Ye 沐野”: Made from wild Liu Bao tea. Strong tea energy with pine smoke and betel nut aromas. The liquor is thick, sweet, and salivating.
2012 “Betel Nut Aroma 槟郎香”: This classic flavor is iconic among overseas Chinese. Deep betel nut and aged wood aromas, smooth and refreshing in the mouth.
