Basic Information

The “Get Rich Immediately” (马上发财, Fortune on Horseback) Flower Brick Tea is a special commemorative release by Baishaxi (白沙溪, White Sand Creek) for the Lunar Year of the Horse, created in collaboration with contemporary artist Ye Jianbo. Ye Jianbo has specially designed artwork for this tea, featured on the packaging and accompanied by a collectible certificate, with high-resolution printing that captures every artistic detail—making it both a tea and a work of art. The image of a horse carrying a large bag of gold and silver symbolizes wealth arriving with the horse. The phrase “Get Rich Immediately” carries a double meaning: on one hand, “on horseback 马上” literally refers to riding a horse, reflecting the Year of the Horse imagery; on the other hand, in Chinese, it also conveys the idea of quickly or immediately, symbolizing wealth and good fortune arriving promptly. Thus, the phrase combines zodiac symbolism with a lucky blessing.

As the leading enterprise in Chinese dark tea, Baishaxi Tea Factory has created several milestones in the history of pressed teas in China: the first black brick tea, the first Fu brick tea, and the first flower brick tea. It also preserves intangible cultural heritage techniques, including the traditional “Qianliang Tea” process, reflecting deep craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

Known as the “king of flower bricks,” the “Get Rich Immediately” commemorative flower brick tea surpasses Baishaxi’s standard flower bricks in raw materials, craftsmanship, and overall quality. It is made from Yuntai Mountain large-leaf tea, picked around the Grain Rain season, selecting one bud with two or three leaves, Grade 1 dark tea materials, with tenderness and inner quality comparable to Tianjian tea. The tea has been naturally aged for over three years, with its aged aroma emerging while remaining ready to drink, and it retains excellent potential for further aging.

The bricks are tightly pressed, with smooth surfaces, sharp edges, and clear, elegant patterns—ideal for locking in aroma and long-term storage, while providing a stable foundation for post-aging transformations. The tea’s aroma is dominated by pure pine smoke, smooth and mellow. Young tea exhibits hints of glutinous aroma and light caramel notes, while long-term aging can develop jujube, honey, cocoa, and even ginseng or medicinal fragrances, adding layers of complexity. The liquor is amber-clear, rich, and sweet, especially suitable for steeping or decoction, which fully extracts the tea’s inner qualities. Over time, the liquor becomes darker, more vibrant, and increasingly full-bodied and mellow.

Infusions 1–3: The liquor is orange-yellow and glossy, smooth and sweet, slowly warming up due to the tight pressing, laying the foundation for subsequent flavors. Aging enhances silkiness and richness. Infusions 4–8: The liquor turns orange-red, oily and full-bodied, with strong depth, concentration, and brisk returning sweetness. Aging further enhances sweetness and drinkability. Infusions 9–15: The liquor becomes bright orange-yellow, mellow and sweet, maintaining thickness, with rich layers and lasting aroma. Aging further enriches complexity and playfulness. Infusions 15+: The liquor remains clear and bright, smooth and refreshing, with sweet lingering finish, demonstrating excellent durability for extended brewing, enhanced by long-term aging.

The tea leaves are tender, thick, and soft, with a lively texture and bright yellow-brown color, reflecting the grade and maturity of the raw materials. Made from carefully selected raw materials aged three years, the tea is rich in substances and well-prepared for aging, offering a balance of drinkability, aging potential, and collectible value. The “Get Rich Immediately” flower brick tea is a rare Lunar Year collectible and a premium gift for tea lovers and art collectors alike.

This flower brick tea weighs 1,000 grams, offering excellent value. It is perfect for both collection and daily enjoyment.

Steeping Guidelines

Easy Mug Brew

Use a tea-to-water ratio of 1:100. Put the leaves directly into a mug, add boiling water, and steep for 5 to 7 minutes. When about one-third of the tea remains, refill with boiling water to continue brewing.

Traditional Gongfu Style

Pre-warm the gaiwan or Yixing teapot. Use a tea-to-water ratio of 1:25. Brew with water at 100°C (212°F). For the first two infusions, steep for about 10 seconds each. Gradually increase the steeping time with each additional infusion. Pour the tea liquor completely out after each brew.

Thermal Steeping

Use a tea-to-water ratio of 1:200. Pour boiling water into a ceramic-lined insulated flask or teapot. Close the lid and let it steep for 1 to 2 hours before drinking. When about one-third of the tea remains, refill with boiling water to continue brewing and enjoying.
