Basic Information

Discover the legacy of Tieguanyin 铁观音 Oolong Tea, a historically renowned semi-fermented tea hailing from its truest origin, Xianghua Township 祥华乡 in Anxi County 安溪县. This exceptional brew is meticulously crafted from the tender spring harvest of the most authentic Hongxin Waiweitao (红心歪尾桃) variety of 50-year-old wild tea trees, thriving in the lush, misty mountains and sandy red soil of this celebrated region. The freshly plucked, medium-open leaves undergo a meticulous transformation through traditional techniques, including sun-drying, withering, hand-tossing, rolling, and roasting, culminating in a tea with a rich aroma, a full-bodied and layered flavor, and the signature "Guanyin Rhyme 观音韵" unique to authentic Tieguanyin.

This old bush 老枞 Tieguanyin stands as a true testament to its esteemed variety, showcasing the distinctive character of its terroir, the favorable influence of its environment, and the mastery of its craftsmanship. As a top-tier expression of Tieguanyin, it is produced using time-honored techniques from the 1980s and cultivated through semi-natural farming methods in the very birthplace of this iconic tea. This brew harmoniously embodies the essence of time, the gifts of the land, and the artistry of human skill. Visually, the tea presents the classic "dragonfly head, frog leg" appearance, with uneven reddish-brown stems and tightly rolled leaves in a captivating blend of three distinct shades, producing a clear, crisp metallic sound when dropped into a vessel.

Upon infusion, this Tieguanyin unveils a breathtaking transformation. Pouring hot water from a height releases an intoxicating burst of floral fragrance, evoking the serene ambiance of a misty mountain landscape. The brewed tea shimmers with a radiant golden hue, reminiscent of a stunning sunset over the ocean. Each sip is smooth and sweet, with the captivating aroma seamlessly integrating into the liquid, allowing you to almost taste the vitality of the ancient tea trees, especially characteristic of the prized Hongxin Waiweitao cultivar. As the tea gently flows, close your eyes and be transported to lush forests and flowing rivers, experiencing a moment of pure tranquility and sensory delight.

Steeping Guidelines

Traditional Gongfu Style

Pre-warm the gaiwan or Yixing teapot. Use a tea-to-water ratio of 1:15 to 1:20. Brew with water at 100°C (212°F). For the first three infusions, pour the water directly from a fixed height onto the leaves to release their aroma, and immediately pour out the tea liquor—do not let it steep. From the fourth infusion onward, gradually increase the steeping time by 5 seconds with each brew. Pour the tea liquor completely out after each infusion. For best results, use high-quality bottled water to preserve the tea’s delicate floral and creamy notes.
