Basic Information

Gardenia-Scented Keemun Black Tea is a refined and unique floral black tea made with top-grade Keemun Maofeng from Keemun County and fresh gardenia blossoms harvested in May and June. Following the traditional jasmine-tea scenting method, the tea undergoes multiple rounds of carefully tested floral blending to achieve the ideal balance. By precisely controlling oxygen, moisture, and temperature, the gardenia fragrance is better absorbed, rising bright and long-lasting, while the sweetness and smoothness of Keemun black tea remain intact. The entire development process took over a year, supported by Xiangyuan Tea’s technical team and crafted in partnership with the historic state-owned Keemun Tea Factory, overseen by twelve national intangible-heritage inheritors to ensure authentic craftsmanship and exceptional quality.

The dry leaves are slender and glossy dark, releasing a gentle yet memorable aroma that combines the rich gardenia fragrance with the elegant character of Keemun black tea. Once brewed, the liquor turns a clear, bright orange-yellow, offering a fresh and uplifting aroma distinct from jasmine-scented or osmanthus-scented Keemun teas. The flavor is sweet, smooth, and refreshing, with the gardenia fragrance unfolding softly across the palate and harmonizing with the natural sweetness of the tea. The result is an elegant, orchid-like fragrance and a layered taste experience that is both delicate and expressive.

The infused leaves are tender and supple, carrying a lingering and memorable gardenia aroma where floral and tea notes blend seamlessly. Using spring tea harvested around Grain Rain—primarily one bud and two leaves—the tea base is rich in inner substances, enabling better absorption of floral fragrance and fuller flavor expression. Through nearly a hundred comparative tests, the most harmonious flower-to-tea ratio was selected, creating a tea that is fragrant but not overpowering, elegant yet not faint. Made without any additives or artificial flavoring, this gardenia-scented Keemun tea delivers genuine quality in every sip, showcasing the beautiful meeting of gardenia fragrance and Keemun black tea.

Steeping Guidelines

Easy Mug Brew

Use a tea-to-water ratio of 1:150. Put the leaves directly into a mug, add boiling water (100°C), and steep for 5 to 7 minutes. When about one-third of the tea remains, refill with boiling water to continue brewing.

Traditional Gongfu Style

Pre-warm the gaiwan or Yixing teapot. Use a tea-to-water ratio of 1:50. Brew with water at 95°C. For the first infusion, steep for about 4 seconds. Gradually increase the steeping time by about 3 seconds with each additional infusion, for up to five infusions. Pour the tea liquor completely out after each brew.
